Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper handles the day-in-day-out financial record keeping and reporting. An accountant specializes in the preparation and filing of taxes. Having a good bookkeeper is just as important to the growing business as having a good accountant.

If I hire a bookkeeper or a bookkeeping service, will I still need an accountant?

Yes. We insist that all of our clients retain the services of an accountant. We will work with them to prepare everything to their needs, thus saving them money on their fees come tax time.

What does “Full Charge Bookkeeper” mean?

A “Full-Charge” bookkeeper:

Can I afford to have MBS handle my company’s books?

What does it mean to be a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor?

As Certified Pro Advisors, we are experts in QuickBooks installation, setup, payroll, reporting, and other day-to-day functions of the software.

Are QuickBooks and Excel the only software that MBS works with?

Certainly not, but Quickbooks is the general accounting software that we recommend, and we are experts in Excel. We also have experience with: Peachtree, One Write Plus, Timeslips, MAS90 and many others.

How often will I see the bookkeeper?

As often as your business and its needs demand. We do, however, recommend establishing a regular schedule with us to keep us up to date on your account.

Will it be the same bookkeeper every time?

You will have a point-person on your account, someone personally familiar with and responsible for your books. You also have the advantages that come with a solid team of bookkeepers and the back-up of our administrative and support staff.

If I have a question or a concern, will I be able to reach someone?

Our office is open Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. You will always be able to reach someone within those hours or be able to leave a message knowing that it will get to the right person. Your questions and concerns will always be dealt with in a timely manner.

Does MBS guarantee my privacy?

Absolutely. Discretion and privacy are important to our firm and are guarantees we proudly make to our clients.

How do I know my bookkeeper will be someone I can trust?

With high standards and a diligent screening process, we make sure that anyone working on your books will be both able and trustworthy.

Are there any job opportunities at MBS Bookkeeping?

We’re always looking for talented bookkeepers. Understand, though, that we only hire the most able full-charge bookkeepers who are also experts in QuickBooks and Excel. MBS is an equal-opportunity employer. All of our full-time positions are salaried with benefits.
